``Diamond Daisen'', a momentary sparkle created by the sun and the famous mountain in the San'in region

The natural beauty of a sunny morning that can only be enjoyed twice a year
Would you like to experience the moment of joy once again?

It is located in Kume-cho, Yonago City, Tottori Prefecture, about 2 km from Yonago Station, about 5 minutes by car, and is now one of the symbols of Yonago City."Yonago Castle Ruins".

(For the Yonago Castle Ruins, see the previousSeparate articleHowever, it has been covered, so please check it out as well. )

Yonago Castle ruins. Spectacular views that can only be seen from near the castle tower twice a year, around February 20th and October 10nd, when the weather is blessed with good weather."Diamond Oyama"There is a thing called.
``Diamond Daisen'' refers to the mystical scenery where the sunrise direction is the same as the direction of Mt. Daisen, and the sun rises from the top of Mt. Daisen.

And the other day, February 2024, 18 (Sunday).
The weather was nice and I thought it would be a chance to see Diamond Daisen, so I woke up early and headed there from Tottori City.
Also, on this day, Yonago City Tourism Association“Winter Diamond Daisen Observation Party”was also held.

Around 10:XNUMX a.m., just as the night was ending and light was beginning to appear, we arrived at Minatoyama Park, where the parking lot was located, and started climbing through the castle entrance on the Minatoyama Park side.
While it is still dark, we climb halfway up the path, which has been paved and sloped to make it easier for many people to walk. I was grateful for the gentle light that illuminated the path in the darkness.
The paved road ends in the middle, and from there it merges with another castle climbing road, followed by a path of stone stairs typical of the castle ruins.

On the way, when I looked towards the city, the sunrise was starting to dawn, and the view of the orange and blue sky and the town of Yonago was a feast for the eyes as I climbed.

Where should I see “Diamond Daisen”?
I headed to the ruins of the castle tower.
At 21:XNUMX a.m., a large number of people had already gathered at the site of the castle tower ruins.

I could hear voices from the scene saying, ``At around 6 o'clock, spectators were starting to arrive in the front row.''
It seems like the kind of scenery that attracts so many people even early in the morning.

There were people of all ages, including families, people with tripods and cameras ready to capture the scenery, and people from TV stations.

The organizers of the viewing party also set up a bonfire so that the people who had gathered could stay warm in the cold morning sky.

There were a few people warming themselves in the warmth of the bonfire until the time came...

Around 30:XNUMX, the color of the sunrise in the clear Yonago sky becomes even more intense, heightening the anticipation of those watching.
As time passed, the number of spectators increased, and even the mayor of Yonago City and an announcer from a local broadcasting station came to see it, giving me a sense of the vibrancy of the city and the scenery that is loved by so many people. I felt that. I was looking forward to that moment even more.

The number of visitors gradually increases, and they wait for the sun to rise from the top while enjoying the view of the sunrise.

At 13:15, as we approached XNUMX:XNUMX, the time when "Diamond Daisen" would occur, the light began to shine on the peaks and back of the mountain, making it look like a halo!
With a sense of excitement and cheers of expectation, everyone holds out their cameras and smartphones, ready to capture that magical moment of joy.

"14:XNUMX"

Finally, on the morning of February 18th, the moment that everyone who visited Yonago Castle ruins had been waiting for arrived!
The morning sun shines like a diamond, brightly illuminating the city of Yonago from near the summit of Mt. Daisen, created by the nature of the San'in region."Diamond Oyama".
The moment the beautiful sight that mesmerized the viewers unfolded before their eyes, the sounds of joy and admiration from the visitors and the sounds of smartphone and camera shutters spread throughout the area.
The sparkling morning sun rose steadily, and the way the sparkle grew stronger and illuminated the city of Yonago even more brightly seemed like a charm that could only be seen at this moment.
The morning sun sparkling like diamonds must have been a memorable moment for the visitors, as they were delighted and enchanted.

On this day, the Yonago City Tourism Association's "Winter Diamond Daisen Observation Party" was also being held, so a limited quantity of "beef bone soup" and commemorative ramune noodles were distributed near the gazebo of the ruins of the castle tower. The tourist information center was selling hot coffee and Yonago Castle related products, and food trucks were also coming to the Masugata area.
After enjoying the view of Diamond Daisen, I waited in line to receive beef bone soup and commemorative ramune, and warmed up by buying hot coffee.

I tried to spend time like that.

As I was drinking hot coffee and enjoying the view from the Yonago Castle ruins, as it was winter, I looked towards Yasugi (Nakaumi side) and saw a tundra swan flying. .
A cameraman from a local station in San'in also captured the scene on camera.

``Diamond Daisen'' is a spectacular view that can only be seen from near the main tower of Yonago Castle twice a year, around February 20th and October 10nd, on sunny days.
On this exciting day and moment, the Yonago Castle ruins and Yonago City are filled with bustle and vitality.
On this day, more than 1,000 people came from early in the morning to enjoy this view.
It's no wonder that many people want to gather at Diamond Daisen, which has such a spectacular view.

The next time you'll be able to see Diamond Daisen will be in autumn, but if you're interested, whether you're in Yonago or other areas, why not come and make sure the weather is nice?
You may even feel the difference from Diamond Daisen in winter.

By the way…. After the sun rose, I was able to find a small spring that can only be seen at this time of year as soon as I started descending the stairs from the castle tower ruins to head home.

As I was going down the stairs, I suddenly looked up and saw a small spring...I'm not sure what kind it was, but it looked like early blooming cherry blossoms (the TV station that was filming the cherry blossoms nearby asked the tourist association about the early blooming cherry blossoms). I was told that it is a cherry blossom in bloom).
